Malia Jade is a piano recording artist based in Los Angeles. "90s songs for like, piano," is Malia's classical interpretation of 90s grunge, triphop, shoegaze, and emo songs, stripped down for acoustic piano.
"Here's Where the Story Ends" (The Sundays) quotes Eric Satie's "Gymnopedie." "Under the Bridge" (Red Hot Chili Peppers) is influenced by the keyboard patterns of J.S. Bach. "Today" (Smashing Pumpkins) uses classical-style "Alberti Bass" patterns popularized by Mozart.
"Teardrop" (Massive Attack) and "Roads" (Portishead) have lengthy improvisation sections, meditating on the chord progressions and introducing complimentary melodies. "Enjoy the Silence" (Depeche Mode) and "Creep" (Radiohead) are reimagined in neoclassical style.
